The Research and Application to Some Old Maps of Beijing in the End of Qing Dynasty and Republic of China

Abstract

This paper reviews several old map of Beijing surveyed and printed from 1907, the end of Qing dynasty, to 1948, and the end of Republic of China, scaling from 1∶8500 to 1∶100000, classed from topographic maps to urban plan maps. From these old maps, we could draw the information of the modernization process of Beijing City and its suburban from geographical approach. With the application of digital image process technique, the old maps could be scanned and registrated by matching to standard topographic map.
