Abstract: Based on previous researches on potential agricultural productivity and supported by geographical information system (GIS) technology and agricultural databases which include spatial databases and attribute databases, potential land productivity in Gansu province was studied By using the mechanism methodology, the model of potential agriculture productivity was established Effective coefficients for factors such as radiation, temperature, water and land were decided; then potential photosynthesis productivity, potential temperature productivity, potential precipitation productivity, potential agricultural water resources productivity and potential land productivity in Gansu province were calculated The results show the spatial distribution inconsistency between agricultural production and agricultural resources in Gansu province, and this reveals the different limitation of radiation, temperature, water and land effective coefficient to agricultural production.
Key words: constraint factor efficient, constraint factors, Gansu Province, potential agricultural productivity
