THE RECENT DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY IN CHINA

Abstract: s an important branch of Human Geography, Cultural Geography merged late yet has demonstrated a fast developing speed in China. According to a general survey of the situation during recent ten years in this paper, its development may be summarized as follows: 1) The theories of Cultural Geography have experienced the stages of introduction and assimilation, and are entering the selfdeveloping stage. 2) The regional study of Cultural Geography is moving from macrocosm towards microcosm. 3) The historical study of Cultural Geography is moving from periods towards regions. 4) The monographic study of Cultural Geography is moving from simplism towards pluralism. 5) The synthetical study of Cultural Geography is moving from kernel towadrds frontier.The gengeral tendency is to become more concrete,regional and synthetical.
